Preparation steps

Place rice into a sieve and pour into a large enough steam basket. Pour about 3 cm (approximately 1 1/4 inch) of water into wok and add cloves, sliced cardamom and ginger. Place steam basket on top of wok and cook rice, covered, for about 25 minutes (or according to package instructions, plus 5 more minutes).

Rinse and halve apples, core and cut into thin slices. Heat butter in a pan and saute apple slices for about 3-4 minutes or until soft. Deglaze pan with orange juice and let stand for 5 minutes.

Fluff cooked rice and add apple slices. Serve.
