Did you know that oatmeal is always made from whole grains, whether in the tender or kernel variety? Here are therefore all the nutrients and valuable fiber in it. Maple Syrup is obtained from the thickened sap of maple trees. That's why it is a natural product and a great alternative to household sugar.

These cookies can be made in to any shape, or even just rounds.

Preparation

Kitchen utensils

1 round Cookie cutter (6-7 cm Ø)

Preparation steps

1.

Finely grind seeds and nuts with buckwheat and rolled oats in a blitz chopper. Knead in a bowl with date paste, maple syrup, cinnamon, orange zest and orange juice until a firm smooth dough. Roll out 1/8-inch thin between baking paper and cut out circles.

2.

Place on two baking sheets lined with baking paper. Form small balls for the eyes from the scraps. Press onto the circles and place 1 currant on each as a pupil. Press in lightly and press 1 almond into each as a beak. Press "claws" into the lower edge with a fork.

3.

Dry owl cookies in preheated oven at 60 °C / 140 °F with oven door slightly open for 7-8 hours (or in dehydrator at 42 °C / 108 ˚F for 9-10 hours). Then allow the owl cookies to cool.
