Preparation steps

To make the dough mix together the yeast and the milk. Add the sugar, flour and a pinch of salt and knead together until the dough is no longer sticky. Cover with a towel and leave to rise in a warm place for around 30 minutes until it has doubled in size.

Heat the oven to 225°C (205°C in a fan oven), 425°F, gas 7 and line a baking tray with grease-proof paper. Then knead the dough again and leave to rise for a further 30 minutes.

Knead the dough on a floured work surface and roll out into 5-6 thin rounds (approx. 22 cm Ø). Place the rounds on the prepared baking tray and brush them with butter. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.

To make the filling, mix together the almonds, cinnamon and butter. Spread some of the mixture onto one of the baked rounds and drizzle with some honey. Place a second round on top and continue like this until the final round has been used. Drizzle with honey and serve.
