The whole wheat flour in this pie contains valuable fiber, as do the apples.

It is best to serve the cake still lukewarm, when it's most aromatic.

Preparation

Kitchen utensils

1 Bowl, 1 Hand mixer, 1 Baking sheet, 1 Citrus juicer

Preparation steps

1.

Mix flour and baking powder. Add cold butter cut into pieces and whole cane sugar. Cut the vanilla pod open lengthwise, scrape out the pulp and add to the flour mixture together with the eggs. Use the dough hooks of a hand mixer to mix everything into a short pastry. Form the dough into a ball and chill for 30 minutes.

2.

Meanwhile, rinse the lemon with hot water, dab dry, grate the peel and squeeze the juice. Peel and quarter apples, remove core and cut apple quarters into finer slices. Mix apple slices with lemon grated, 2 tbsp. lemon juice, cinnamon and maple syrup.

3.

Roll out the dough, spread on a baking tray lined with baking paper and arrange the apple slices in rows on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 40 minutes.
